Speaking

Inspiring change through music and storytelling.

FRÉ is a passionate speaker on the role of music and art in the face of the climate and ecological crisis. As co-founder of Music Declares Emergency NL, she brings this message to international festivals, conservatoires and conferences, speaking on artist activism, sustainability in the music industry, and the cultural shift needed for a livable future.

She has contributed to events such as ADE Green, Eurosonic/Noorderslag, MusicXMedia (FIN), the European Jazz Conference (BE), No Man’s Land, Popronde, Oerol, VNPF, Bevrijdingsfestival Overijssel, Grasnapolsky, Warming Up Festival, 25 Years of Earth Charter, and more — as a speaker, host, podcaster, panelist, performer, and educator.
As a practiced storyteller, her speaking style is engaging, authentic, and purposeful. She knows how to captivate an audience, turning personal stories into moments where people feel seen and connected. Through music, she breaks open complex topics with honesty and emotion, creating space for conversations that matter.

“Exploring and finding ways to connect your identity and social values to your artistic practice are at the heart of our work. FRÉ’s contribution to the Socially Engaged Artistic Practice module (part of NAIP European Music Masters at the Royal Conservatoire The Hague) was a perfect example of how this connection can come into reality. FRÉ presents a gripping personal narrative as an artist that connects her work and passion as a musician with her drive to combat climate change and help sustain our global environments. Deeply inspiring the student community with new knowledge and awareness of Music Declares Emergency and the important role they are playing as an organisation making positive change within the music industry. FRÉ is a fantastic facilitator, aware and caring to the group and open and capable of navigating challenging topics.”

Guy Wood (Coach / Faculty, NAIP European Music Masters,
Royal Conservatoire, The Hague)

“As a musician, Frederike knows better than anyone that music connects people. But she also moved me as a speaker during the Earth Charter conference. Her personal story brought the complex issue of biodiversity loss closer to home and made it relatable. With a song written especially for the occasion, she had the entire audience in the palm of her hand. With a smile and a tear. It’s wonderful when quality and commitment come together on stage.”
